Dhokla originated in the Indian state of Gujarat. These are fermented, steamed, savoury rice and lentil cakes which are light, spongy, porous and a bit sour, served with sweet/spicy chutney. It is an everyday snack in Gujarat and is considered to be a healthy snack. It can be had as a breakfast, lunch, dinner or as a side snack.
