Description

A popular tea time gujarati snack made from deep frying the the spiced besan mixture. The recipe is very similar to the farsan or kara sev but less crispy and dissolves like a butter in the mouth. Ingredients & Method

Ingredients

  • Water – 1 cup + 1 cup (for further process)
  • Oil – ½ cup
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Asafoetida – 1 pinch
  • Carom seeds – 1 tsp
  • Papad khar – ½ tsp
  • Gram flour – 2 cup

Method

  • First, take a bowl add water, oil, salt, asafoetida, caroms seeds and mix it. Make white fluffy liquid.
  • After that add gram flour and mix it well then add half cup of water and make a gathiya mixture.
  • The dough will be slightly sticky, grease the hand with oil and combine all dough.
  • Further, heat the oil to medium flame. Grease the grater or gathiya jhara with oil from both the sides. Then slightly soak your hand in water.
  • Place dough in gathiya jhara and spread with your hand palm. Flip over and fry gathiya on medium-low flame.
  • Drain crispy gathiya on a plate and repeat making more gathiya with the remaining dough.
  • Serve it with fry green chilli and hot tea.
