SPICY GREEN CHILLI TOMATO SABJI RECIPE

Description

Tomatoes are labelled as vegetable for nutritional purpose. In India curries are loved by all and when it comes to curries mostly tomatoes are the ingredient but what when tomatoes are the main ingredients? There are various ways to make a tomato curry but let’s see tomatoes with the combination of green chillies – tomato chilli curry or tomato mirchi curry in Desi Gabbar’s style that adds the extra spiciness to the meal. Spicy green chilli tomato sabji, a complete mingle of tart taste of tomatoes and spiciness of green chillies. It can be served with any flavoured rice or simply with rotis.

Ingredients & Method

Ingredients

  • Tomato 10.58 OZ(300 gms)
  • Green Chilli 3.5 OZ(100 gms.)
  • Oil 2-3 tbsp.
  • Cumin Seeds 1 tsp.
  • Asafoetida 1 pinch
  • Grated Ginger 1 tsp.
  • Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp.
  • Coriander Powder 1 tsp.
  • Fennel powder 1 tsp.
  • Red Chilli Powder 1/2 tsp.
  • Salt to taste

Method

  • Take washed green chillies.
  • Cut them into bite-size.
  • Take chopped (big pieces) tomatoes.
  • Heat oil in the pan.
  • Add cumin seeds, asafoetida and grated ginger.
  • Add chopped chillies.
  • Sauté for a minute or two.
  • Now, add chopped tomatoes.
  • Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, and salt and fennel powder.
  • Mix it well.
  • Cover it for 2 minutes and cook over a medium flame.
  • Tomatoes and chilies should be lightly cooked. Do not make them mushy.
  • Check after 2 minutes, if not cooked then cook again for 2 more minutes.
  • Spicy green chilli tomato sabji is ready to be served.
