Description
Pav Bhaji is an iconic street style food from Mumbai and is hugely popular in India. Bhaji is a Marathi word for vegetables and since it is served with pav it is known as Pav bhaji. Bhaji is a delicious blend of mix veggies with dollop of butter and spices, served with hot Indian bread – Pav toasted in butter. Pav bhaji has a different place in Indian cooking, it is the king of Indian street food and even serves as a wholesome delicious dinner for quick plans. Ingredients
• Potatoes 5-6
• Chopped tomatoes 1 ¼ cup
• Fine chopped green bell pepper 1 cup
• green peas ½ cup
• Chopped beetroot ¼ cup
• Chopped carrots ½ cup
• Fine chopped onions 1 cup
• Lemon juice 1 tbsp.
• Green chilly 1
• Grated ginger 1 tbsp.
• Grated garlic ½ tbsp.
• Kashmiri lal mirch powder 1 tbsp.
• Everest pav bhaji masala 2 tbsp.
• Salt as per taste
• Butter 1-2 cubes
• Oil 3-4 tbsp.
• Chopped cilantro for garnishing
Method
• In a pressure cooker take chopped potatoes add peas, beetroot, and carrots and add water till veggies are completely covered.
• Add salt as per taste.
• Cover the lid and wait for 5-6 whistles or till veggies are boiled.
• Once the veggies are boiled and pressure cooker cools down, remove the extra water.
• With the help of potato masher, mash all the veggies and keep them aside.
• Now heat the oil in a pan.
• Add grated ginger and garlic. Sauté till it become slightly brown.
• Now add fine chopped onions and cook till they turn slightly pink.
• In between add salt and mix it properly.
• Once onions turn pink add bell pepper.
• Cover and cook till onions are soft, brown and leaves oil.
• At this point add fine chopped tomatoes, mix everything well.
• Cover and cook till tomatoes are soft.
• Now add butter and mix it well.
• Add Kashmiri lal mirch powder, pav bhaji masala and mix it again.
• Now add mashed veggies, mix it well with masala and let it cook.
• Now add water according to the consistency you like.
• Mix well and let the bhaji boil for few minutes and you see some oil on the top.
• Bhaji is ready.
• Now for pav, take pav cut it from centre.
• Heat butter on pan and sprinkle some pav bhaji masala and chopped cilantro on it.
• Put the pav on the butter.
• Cook till pav become little crisp.
