Kadhi
Description
Gujarati kadhi is a sweet-sour yogurt kadhi made without chickpea flour fritters. To all those who do not know, Kadhi is a yogurt-based gravy dish to which chickpea flour/besan is added, tempered and then simmered with spices. Ingredients & Method
Ingredients
- Curd 1 cup
- Besan ½ cup
- Water (around 900ml)
- Ginger chilli paste 1 tsp
- Curry leaves 5-6
- Salt to taste
- Jaggery
- Ghee 1 tbsp.
- Oil ¼ tsp.
- Cumin seeds ½ tsp
- Cloves 5-6
- Cinnamon stick 1
- Dry red chilli 2
- Cloves & Cinnamon powder 1 pinch
- Cilantro leaves
Method
- Add besan and curd in a bowl and add 600-700ml of water and blend it.
- Once the ghee and oil is heated add cinnamon stick, cloves, cumin seeds, dry red chillies and curry leaves and roast it for 1-2 mint at low flame.
- Now, add blended mixture and add salt as per taste
- Add jaggery and mix it well
- Keep on stirring kadhi in between
- Then, add curry leaves, cloves & cinnamon powder.
- Add cilantro leaves to kadhi after boiled for 10-12 minutes
- Boil it for another 5 minutes
