Tal Nu Kachariyu

Description

Tal Nu Kachariyu is the simplest Gujarat's winters sweet recipe. It is made using sesame seeds, grated coconut and jaggery along with dates, dried ginger powder, ganthoda, etc. In Gujarati ‘Kacharvu’ means to grind and since we grind the sesame seeds in this recipe the name derived is Kachariyu. Ingredients & Method

Ingredients

  • Black sesame seeds – ½ cup
  • Soft dates – ¼ cup (50 gm)
  • Jaggery – ¼ cup (50 gm)
  • Desiccated coconut – ¼ cup
  • Ganthola powder – ½ tsp
  • Ginger powder – 1 tsp
  • Sesame seeds oil – 2 tbsp
  • Watermelon seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Poppy seeds – 1 tsp

Method

  • Firstly, take a mixing jar, add black sesame seeds and grind it coarsely. Further add soft dates, jaggery, desiccated coconut and grind it nicely.
  • Now add watermelon seeds, poppy seeds again grind it once. Then add ganthola powder, ginger powder and sesame seeds oil and grind it again. Our kachariya mixture is ready.
  • Now, take that mixture in a bowl and in that add desiccated coconut. With the help of hand mix it properly.
  • Lastly, garnish with grated coconut. Tal Nu Kachariyu is ready to serve.
