Sabudana Khichdi

Ingredients

    For soaking sabudana:
  • Sabudana 1 cup (sago)
  • Water 1 cup
  • For Making Sabudana Khichdi:
  • Peanuts ½ cup
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Green chillies 1-2 (chopped)
  • Potatoes 2 medium sized (diced)
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves 8-10
  • Sugar 1 tbsp
  • Lemon juice 1 tsp
  • Fresh cilantro leaves 1 tbsp (chopped)

Method

    For soaking sabudana:
  • Wash the sabudana thoroughly ensuring with minimum starch.
  • Soak the sabudana in equal parts of water for minimum 4-5 hours.
  • Cooking Method:
  • Dry roast the peanuts. Crush the half of the peanuts coarsely in the blending jar and keep the half-roasted peanuts for later use.
  • Heat oil in a wok, add jeera and allow to splutter, add green chillies and diced potatoes and cook it on medium heat.
  • Sprinkle some salt to taste and sauté until the potatoes are cooked completely.
  • Add curry leaves and sauté for a minute, add the whole and crushed roasted peanuts.
  • Add the soaked sabudana, sugar and salt to taste, squeeze some lemon juice to balance the flavour and mix well.
  • Cook until the sabudana turns transparent, add some freshly chopped cilantro leaves and serve hot.
