Coconut laddu

Description

Coconut laddu are traditional Indian sweet balls made with coconut, cardamom powder, a sweetener & milk. We make these for most festivals and occasions as they taste delicious and are easy to make. These were made across India mostly in the coastal regions where fresh coconuts were grown in abundance. These also make an amazing gift to share with friends. Ingredients & Method

Ingredients

  • Ghee – 1tsp
  • Fresh desiccated coconut – 2 cups
  • Milk – 1 cup
  • Sugar powder – 1 cup
  • Cardamom powder – 1 pinch (optional)

Method

  • Take a pan, add ghee and desiccated coconut
  • Sauté on low flame for 1-2 minutes
  • Now, add milk and keep stirring and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add sugar powder, cardamom powder and mix well
  • Make sure flame is still at low
  • Stir it continuously otherwise coconut may stick to the bottom
  • Don’t overcook the mixture
  • Mixture is ready, transfer in a bowl and let it cool down
  • For making laddus take small portion and make laddu
  • Roll on dry coconut powder
  • Gently roll in palms
  • Set for 1 hour in a fridge
  • Serve it.
